As a Japanese artist, I grew up surrounded by technological and artificial elements, while people still adhered to conventions and practices that appreciate nature. These contradictory elements in my environment shaped my philosophy. Nature holds a mythical and sacred status—something almost untouchable.
the series of the works Star Harvest explores the ephemeral existence of nature and its ever-changing materiality. Brass cages capture ice, with pins carefully inserted on the grid of the cages’ faces, their pointed tips measuring the shape of the ice. As the ice slowly melts and disappears, the brass pins serve as reminders of its original form. The droplets from the melting ice are absorbed by plaster powder, and the plaster embraces both the emptiness and substance of nature, reflecting its transient essence.
