This work was inspired by the mabushi, a traditional tool used in silkworm cultivation. Within its gridlike framework, silkworms spin cocoons as they prepare for transformation. Using textures created during a workshop with elementary school students in Kijimadaira, the forms were cast in washi paper and imagined as silkworms. How will the forest nurture them, and what kind of new society or culture might emerge from it?
